IOM Warns of Identity Fraud in Afghanistan as Individuals Demand Money Illegally

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Afghanistan has issued a warning about individuals impersonating the agency and requesting money from citizens. The organization emphasized that all its services throughout Afghanistan are provided free of charge and that no fees are collected from aid recipients.
This warning was released on Tuesday, March 16, through an official statement. The message stated that IOM officials are aware of such incidents and are taking the matter seriously.
The International Organization for Migration has urged the country’s residents to immediately report any encounters with people demanding money in the organization’s name. The agency stressed that timely reporting can prevent further exploitation of the people.
United Nations humanitarian agencies, including the International Organization for Migration, offer their services in Afghanistan free of charge, and any collection of money in exchange for these services is considered a violation.
