Crowds Surge in Kabul Markets as Eid Approaches

As Eid draws near, the number of visitors and the crowding in Kabul’s markets has increased significantly. Residents of the capital say they have begun shopping and preparing for the holiday.
Several dried fruit sellers in Kabul report that although prices have risen considerably compared to before, people’s interest in buying these products remains strong. According to them, families are making efforts to procure the necessary items for their Eid tables despite economic difficulties.
Dried fruit is considered an essential part of the Eid table in Afghanistan and is used to serve guests during the holiday. For this reason, the market for these products flourishes every year as the occasion approaches.
Some residents of Kabul say that rising prices have affected their purchasing power, but they strive to prepare for Eid as much as they can and maintain this long-standing tradition.
