Taliban Judiciary Handles Over 133,000 Legal Cases in First Six Months of 1447 AH

The Deputy Spokesperson of the Supreme Court under the Taliban administration has announced that more than 133,640 civil and criminal cases were handled in the country’s courts during the first six months of the year 1447 Hijri. Qari Mansour Ahmad Hamza stated that during the same period, 86,356 different bail bonds were also executed by the courts. According to him, these statistics pertain to the first two quarters of the current Hijri year. The Taliban administration’s announcement of extensive case handling comes amid ongoing concerns in recent years about the transparency of judicial processes, citizens’ access to legal defense, and adherence to fair trial standards. Some human rights organizations have previously emphasized that publishing more detailed information on the types of cases and how they are processed could help boost public trust. The Supreme Court is considered the highest judicial authority in the country and is responsible for overseeing court activities in the provinces. However, no further details about the composition of the cases reviewed or their final outcomes have been released.
