Land Cruiser Overturn in Badakhshan Kills Five, Injures Four

A Land Cruiser overturned in the Awiz area of Shahr-e Bozorg district in Badakhshan province, resulting in five deaths and four injuries. The incident occurred early this morning, leaving casualties behind.

Saifuddin Azem, the district police chief of Shahr-e Bozorg, stated that the accident happened around 5 a.m. when a speeding vehicle veered off the road. He added that the injured were taken to a medical center for treatment.

Shahr-e Bozorg district is one of the mountainous and hard-to-reach areas of Badakhshan, where residents have frequently witnessed severe traffic accidents. Poor road conditions, narrow lanes, and lack of safety measures are considered factors contributing to the recurrence of such incidents.

Local residents, expressing concern over the rise in similar accidents, have urged the Taliban administration to pay serious attention to rebuilding and upgrading the district’s roads. They believe that neglecting the state of transportation infrastructure could put more lives at risk.
