International Bodies Urge Pakistan to Halt Journalist Expulsions

Several international organizations have sent an official letter to Pakistan’s Prime Minister, urging the government to immediately stop the expulsion of journalists. These organizations emphasized that continuing this trend could negatively impact media freedom and the work of journalists.
The letter calls on Islamabad authorities to reconsider their decisions and create a safe and legal environment for journalists to continue their work. The signatories stressed the crucial role of the media in reporting events and providing public access to information.
In recent years, Pakistan has hosted many regional journalists. The organizations warned that expelling journalists not only affects their professional lives but could also have broader consequences for the free flow of information across the region.
So far, Pakistani officials have not officially responded to the letter.
