China Calls for De-escalation of Tensions Between Afghanistan and Pakistan

A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Beijing hopes Afghanistan and Pakistan will reduce current tensions, exercise restraint, and engage in direct dialogue to resolve their disputes. Lin Jian emphasized that China seeks an early ceasefire between Kabul and Islamabad and the resolution of issues through diplomatic means.

According to him, China’s special representative for Afghanistan, Yue Xiaoyong, has started visits to Afghanistan and Pakistan to facilitate mediation talks between the two sides. This initiative comes amid rising tensions between the neighboring countries in recent months.

The spokesperson also added that Beijing is ready to continue its efforts to strengthen relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan and to lower tensions. China has previously highlighted the importance of regional stability and resolving differences through political engagement.
