Emir of Qatar and Sultan of Oman Stress Reducing Regional Tensions

The Qatari Royal Court announced that Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, held a telephone conversation with Haitham bin Tariq, Sultan of Oman, discussing recent developments and regional tensions. Both parties emphasized the necessity of reducing tensions and prioritizing diplomatic solutions to enhance regional security and stability.

According to the statement, which was also reported by Al Jazeera, the leaders of the two countries considered dialogue and political tools the best options to prevent the escalation of crises in the region. In recent years, Qatar and Oman have sought to play mediating roles in regional conflicts.

During the call, the Emir of Qatar expressed condolences on the passing of Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Oman’s Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, offering sympathies to the Sultan of Oman and the ruling family. He also conveyed condolences following the deaths of two individuals in the incident involving the crash of two drones in the Wilayat of Sohar and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

Previously, the Sultanate of Oman announced that two people had died as a result of the two drone crashes in Sohar.

These developments come amid recent regional tensions, especially following military clashes involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, raising concerns about expanding instability. Iranian officials have stated these actions are taken within the framework of defending their sovereignty and territorial integrity. Meanwhile, several regional countries emphasize the need for restraint and a return to dialogue.
