New Tensions in Iraq as US Embassy Targeted in Drone Attack

The Iraqi group “Saraya Awliya al-Dam” has claimed to have carried out at least eight operations against US bases inside and outside Iraq within the past 24 hours. This claim comes amid ongoing tensions over the presence of American forces in the region.
Mehr news agency, citing Shahab, reported that the group has taken responsibility for these attacks and asserted that the targeted sites in several areas were struck. However, no further details about casualties or potential damage from these operations have been released.
Meanwhile, just minutes before this report, the US Embassy in Baghdad was targeted in a drone attack. Iraqi security sources confirmed that a logistics support base related to the US Embassy in Baghdad was also targeted by a drone strike.
US officials have not yet made any public comments regarding these incidents. Baghdad has repeatedly witnessed similar attacks on US-associated facilities in recent years; these attacks typically occur in the context of armed groups opposing the US military presence in Iraq.
