Germany Deports 105 Convicted Afghan Refugees Amid Rising Deportations

Germany’s Interior Ministry has announced that since the current coalition government took office, 105 refugees convicted of various crimes have been deported from Germany to Afghanistan. According to this information, 22 of these individuals were sent back to Afghanistan in 2026 alone.
The German newspaper Die Welt has reported that the deportation of Afghan refugees may increase in the coming months. The report also notes that scheduled flights for transferring deportees to Kabul are expected to increase.
The deportations continue despite Afghanistan, under Taliban rule, facing severe economic challenges and widespread human rights restrictions. International organizations have repeatedly expressed concern over the rights of women, social limitations, and the lack of job opportunities across different regions of Afghanistan.
Nonetheless, German officials have emphasized that those being deported are individuals convicted by German courts for committing crimes. It remains unclear how many additional Afghan refugees will be affected by the potential increase in deportation flights.
