TTP Reports About 200 Pakistani Soldiers Fleeing Military Base in Bannu

Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed that around 200 Pakistani army soldiers abandoned their posts and attempted to flee from a military base in the city of Bannu, located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. According to the group, these soldiers left due to fear of combat, but were later recaptured.

The TTP described this incident as a sign of low morale within the ranks of the Pakistani army. The group alleges that some soldiers view the ongoing conflict not as a religious duty but as serving political and foreign interests, which has increased dissatisfaction within the military.

The armed group has further emphasized that its fight is not against the people of Pakistan but is directed against the country’s political and military structure. They argue that this structure has harmed Pakistan’s Islamic identity and economy. The TTP has called on Pakistani soldiers to avoid participating in the war for what they describe as “meager livelihood” and to abandon the battlefield.

Meanwhile, some political and civil activists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan had earlier advised the youth in these regions against joining the Pakistani army, viewing it as sacrificing themselves for the political and military interests of Punjab, and urged them to avoid enlistment.

Security experts report that in recent months, the activity of armed and separatist groups has increased in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. These movements have intensified pressure on Pakistan’s security forces and raised questions about the morale and readiness of the country’s army.

So far, Pakistan’s government and military have not officially responded to the TTP’s claims. These allegations come amid ongoing fragile and concerning security conditions in parts of northwestern Pakistan.
