Power Supply from Turkmenistan to Herat Cut Off After Transmission Tower Damage

Electricity imported from Turkmenistan to Herat province was cut off last night following the destruction of two transmission towers in the Band Beqarcher area. This incident has led to a complete halt in the flow of imported electricity to the province.

Mohammad Yousuf Saeedi, spokesperson for the Herat governor, announced today, Wednesday (March 10), that these two towers were destroyed, disrupting the power connection. According to him, technical teams from the Breshna Company have been dispatched to the site to repair and restore the electricity supply as soon as possible.

Herat is one of the provinces that relies significantly on electricity imported from neighboring countries, and any damage to transmission lines directly affects the lives of residents and economic activities.

Meanwhile, electricity imported from Uzbekistan to Kabul and several other provinces has also been disrupted since Saturday due to technical faults in the Tangai Tashqurghan area and remains cut off. The recurrence of such incidents has raised concerns about the management and protection of critical power infrastructure under the Taliban administration, as damage to these infrastructures has widespread consequences for citizens.
