Palestinian Analyst Examines US-Israel Relations and Regional Tensions

A Palestinian writer and political analyst, in an article titled “US-Israel Relations,” has explored the political and military alignment between Washington and Tel Aviv, describing it as a factor exacerbating regional tensions. Published in the newspaper Al-Quds Al-Arabi, the article highlights the roles of US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in shaping the current regional situation.
According to Muhammad Ayash, following the attacks by the US and Israel on Iran, the political atmosphere in the region has become ambiguous and complex. He claims that under such conditions, the weakness of international institutions and the diminished role of the UN Security Council have paved the way for the crisis to expand.
The Palestinian analyst also emphasizes that the US heavily relies on Israel in its regional policies, with both parties sharing strategic goals and military cooperation. He believes this alignment has strengthened the coalition between the two countries in response to global developments.
The article further suggests that changes in the course of events are possible, especially if the scope of conflicts widens, potentially leading to new alignments regionally and globally. Referring to great power rivalries, the writer does not rule out the emergence of new tensions.
Ayash also points to the separate concerns of Washington and Tel Aviv, writing that the US is sensitive to China’s economic growth, while Israel closely monitors security developments along its northern and southern borders.
He adds that Iran’s emphasis on the historical name of the Persian Gulf and its positions regarding the Tunb and Abu Musa islands are, from Tehran’s perspective, part of a policy to defend the country’s territorial integrity and historical identity—a subject that has been debated repeatedly in recent years.
