Over 4,100 Electronic IDs Issued to Afghans in the UAE Since 2025

The National Statistics and Information Authority under the Taliban administration has announced that since the beginning of the solar year 1404 (2025), more than 4,100 electronic identification cards have been distributed to Afghan citizens in the United Arab Emirates. This process has been carried out through the “Easy Services” center in Abu Dhabi.
According to a statement from the authority, in addition to issuing new identification cards, correction services have also been provided for a number of electronic and paper IDs. These services include correcting identity information and addressing registration issues.
The statement quoted Nauman Akbar as saying that approximately 60 people daily from various countries—including Canada, the United States, several European countries, as well as Afghans residing in the UAE—visit this center to obtain ID cards or resolve issues related to their identity documents.
The National Statistics Authority also stated that in order to expand the identity registration and electronic ID distribution process, three additional identity registration centers have been established in several cities in Iran, alongside the Abu Dhabi center. This move comes amid ongoing complaints by many Afghan migrants abroad about difficulties accessing consular and identity services.
The authority emphasized that the Easy Services center in the UAE will continue to operate for the next four months to allow Afghan residents there to receive electronic ID cards and resolve issues with their paper IDs. However, it remains unclear what arrangements will be made to continue providing these services after this period ends.
