Turkic States Urge Dialogue to Ease Tensions Between Kabul and Islamabad

Turkey’s Foreign Minister has stated that member countries of the Organization of Turkic States hope that ongoing tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan will be resolved through dialogue, allowing Afghanistan to live in peace with its neighbors. He emphasized that stability in Afghanistan is important for Turkic countries, which are closely monitoring the situation.
Hakan Fidan, at the conclusion of the Turkic States foreign ministers’ meeting, said that Afghanistan’s situation was also discussed. According to him, several members of this organization share borders with Afghanistan, making peace and stability in the country directly significant for them. He also referred to the recent escalation of tensions between Kabul and Islamabad.
Earlier, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in a phone call with the Taliban administration’s foreign minister, stressed the need to prioritize dialogue and diplomacy to reduce tensions. In addition to Russia, countries such as Indonesia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and China have also expressed their readiness to help resolve the disputes between Kabul and Islamabad.
These diplomatic efforts have intensified amid over ten days of increased military tensions between the two sides, with no official dialogue held so far. The Taliban administration has repeatedly stated that it sees resolving disputes through diplomacy as possible, but the ongoing unclear situation has raised concerns about its security and humanitarian consequences in the border areas.
