Pakistan Claims Heavy Taliban Casualties in Recent Border Clashes

Pakistan’s Information and Broadcasting Minister has announced that in the ongoing border clashes with Taliban forces, 583 members of the group have been killed and 795 others wounded. On Monday, Attaullah Tarrar wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) page that 242 Taliban checkpoints have been “destroyed” and 38 others captured by Pakistani forces.
He also claimed that 213 Taliban armored tanks were destroyed and that since the start of Pakistan’s airstrikes, 64 locations inside Afghan territory have been targeted. These figures have not yet been independently verified, and the Taliban administration has not responded to Islamabad’s recent claims.
Meanwhile, the Taliban’s Ministry of Defense stated early Friday that a clash on Thursday night in the border areas of Alishir district in Khost province resulted in the deaths of four Pakistani soldiers. The ministry also claimed that a Pakistani military checkpoint was captured in the same area.
Enayatullah Khwarizmi, spokesperson for the Taliban Ministry of Defense, added that 30 Pakistani soldiers have been killed in engagements along the Durand Line. According to him, Taliban forces captured a Pakistani military checkpoint in Shorabak district of Kandahar province and subsequently destroyed it with a mine.
Taliban officials also claim that five Pakistani military posts in Dandpatan district of Paktia province have been seized, with their forces entering the “Top Sar Khoch Karam” and “Anzeraki Sar” checkpoints.
The clashes along the Durand Line, a long-standing area of tension between the two sides, have intensified in recent days. This escalation has raised concerns among residents of the border areas about the spread of further insecurity and instability.
