Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian Warns French President Amid Regional Tensions

On the evening of Sunday, March 7, 2026, the presidents of Iran and France held a phone conversation discussing regional developments arising from recent conflicts involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. During the call, both sides shared their views on the current situation and ways to prevent the escalation of tensions.

Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, emphasized in the conversation that his country’s actions are conducted within the framework of self-defense. Referring to recent attacks, he described them as violations of international law and stated that Iran would respond reciprocally to these assaults.

The Iranian president also warned that any actions by other countries, including France, that align with parties engaged against Iran would be considered as participation in the war. He added that such moves could further complicate the situation and increase regional tensions. Pezeshkian affirmed the determination of Iran’s government, people, and armed forces to defend the country.

In response, Emmanuel Macron, President of France, expressed regret over the loss of Iranian civilian lives amid the conflicts and stated that France views these attacks as breaches of international law. He confirmed that France is not intervening in the ongoing war. Macron added that Paris is consulting with several countries to prevent the escalation of tensions.

According to the released report, the two leaders also exchanged views on certain consular issues, including the status of prisoners in both countries.
