Turkey Closely Monitors Rising Tensions Between Afghanistan and Pakistan

Hakan Fidan, Turkey’s Foreign Minister, stated that peace and stability in Afghanistan are crucial for regional security, and his country is closely monitoring the tense situation between Afghanistan and Pakistan. He made these remarks following the informal meeting of the Turkic Council Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Istanbul.
Fidan added that several Turkic countries share a border with Afghanistan, and therefore any instability in Afghanistan could have regional repercussions. He emphasized that the growing tensions between Kabul and Islamabad are being followed with great sensitivity.
Last month, Turkey’s Foreign Minister also held a phone conversation with Mullah Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban administration’s Foreign Minister, discussing regional developments, particularly the situation between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
According to reports, last Sunday night, the Pakistani military violated Afghan airspace and targeted civilian areas in Nangarhar and Paktika provinces. Subsequently, Afghan forces launched attacks on several Pakistani military installations after the 8th of Hamal (approximately late March).
Officials claim that these clashes have caused heavy casualties on the Pakistani side; however, no independent details have been released. Meanwhile, the escalation of conflict has raised concerns about civilian safety and the Taliban administration’s crisis management, highlighting the urgent need for transparency and accountability regarding the country’s security situation.
