Afghan Health Ministry Aims to Expand Cardiac Treatment Services Nationwide

The Ministry of Public Health has announced that the Taliban administration intends to expand cardiac treatment services across the country. Mawlavi Noor Jalal Jalali, acting head of the ministry, stated during a meeting with officials of a cardiac treatment project that the development of these services is essential to better meet the health needs of citizens.

According to a ministry statement, project officials shared their challenges, needs, and suggestions with the acting minister during the meeting. After hearing these points, Jalali directed the relevant departments to review the project’s requirements as soon as possible and take necessary actions.

He emphasized that the ministry’s program is not limited to Kabul and that cardiac treatment services will be strengthened in other provinces as well. This comes amid many provincial residents being forced to undertake costly travel to the capital or abroad due to a lack of specialized cardiovascular facilities.

Meanwhile, to more accurately assess challenges and coordinate better among relevant sectors, a proposal to establish a joint technical committee has been put forward. Based on this proposal, a committee composed of representatives from relevant departments has been formed to oversee and implement the development of cardiac treatment services.

Health experts have previously stressed the need for sustainable investment in the cardiac disease sector, which in recent years has faced shortages of standard equipment and specialized personnel, requiring serious attention and transparent planning.
