UNICEF Provides Safe Drinking Water Access to 2.1 Million People in Afghanistan in 2025

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that in 2025, it facilitated access to safe drinking water for 2.1 million people in Afghanistan. The organization stated that this effort was in response to the widespread needs of the population in the water and hygiene sector.
On Thursday, March 4, UNICEF added in a statement that over one million people also benefited from sanitation facilities. According to the agency, 2.7 million individuals received hygiene and cleaning supplies.
Additionally, UNICEF reported supporting 51 schools and 32 health centers. These aids included providing water and hygiene-related services in these areas.
The lack of safe drinking water remains a serious challenge in many parts of Afghanistan, directly impacting public health, children’s education, and the living conditions of families.
