UN Expert Richard Bennett Raises Concerns Over Afghan Migrants’ Situation in Iran

Richard Bennett, the United Nations Human Rights Council Special Rapporteur for Afghanistan, has expressed concern over the lack of legal and social support for Afghan migrants in Iran, highlighting particular worries about the situation for women.

On Thursday, March 4th, Mr. Bennett stated that Afghan migrants in Iran do not have adequate protective frameworks and are often deprived of social support. He emphasized that women among these migrants are especially vulnerable.

The UN Human Rights Council Special Rapporteur also stressed that the ongoing war and conflicts exacerbate the migrants’ problems and complicate their conditions.

Meanwhile, Richard Bennett has joined a group of UN experts condemning the United States and Israel’s attacks on Iran. These experts have described the attacks as illegal and unjustified.

Iran is one of the countries hosting a significant number of Afghan migrants, and their legal and living conditions have continuously been topics of discussion in international forums.
