Taliban Official Vows to Address Media’s Frequency Fees and Tax Concerns

Mawlawi Abdulsalam Hanfi, Deputy Administrative Chief of the Taliban’s Prime Minister’s Office, announced during an Iftar banquet with media officials that he will raise their demands and proposals, particularly regarding frequency fees and past taxes, with the relevant authorities.

The banquet was organized by the General Directorate of the Prime Minister’s Office. At the meeting, several media officials presented their challenges related to frequency costs and tax debts and called for practical action to resolve these issues.

Hanfi expressed appreciation to the media for what he described as “publicizing progress and achievements,” emphasizing the importance of timely reporting on natural disasters, returning refugees, and national matters. He also urged better fulfillment of media responsibilities.

This comes amid years of widespread restrictions and challenges faced by the media. It is expected that, aside from addressing financial matters, the Taliban administration will also take practical steps to ensure freedom of expression, access to information, and ease pressures on journalists—issues that have consistently been among the primary demands of the country’s media community.
