Pakistani Attacks on Kunar Kill 24 Civilians, Displace Thousands

Local officials in Kunar province have reported that air and rocket attacks by Pakistani military forces on residential areas have killed at least 24 civilians and injured over 40 others. According to these officials, the ongoing attacks have forced thousands of families to flee their homes and seek refuge in safer areas.
Zia-ur-Rehman Spin Ghar, head of information and culture in Kunar, stated that the attacks occurred over the past several days and caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure in addition to human casualties. He noted that mosques, clinics, schools, and parts of highways have been either completely or partially destroyed.
Local residents said Pakistani forces targeted residential areas using tanks, artillery, and mortar shells. Meanwhile, local officials reported that alongside increasing tensions, clashes have also taken place between Pakistani forces and Taliban administration forces.
According to these officials, after direct military efforts failed to achieve their objectives, attacks on civilian areas intensified, raising serious concerns about the adherence to principles protecting civilians. The rising insecurity along the Durand Line in recent years has consistently endangered border communities, and the recurrence of such incidents has further deteriorated the humanitarian situation in these areas.
