Iranian Embassy in Kabul Hosts Memorial Signing for Ayatollah Khamenei Amid Taliban Attendance

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kabul announced that a memorial signing ceremony for Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran who was martyred following U.S. and Israeli attacks, is being held at the embassy headquarters. According to the embassy, several Taliban administration officials also attended the event.

On Wednesday, 13th of Hoot (March 3), the Iranian Embassy posted on the social media platform X that Abdul Salam Hanafi, the Administrative Deputy of the Taliban Prime Minister’s Office, along with several officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban administration, participated in the ceremony.

Simultaneously, an image of Abdul Salam Hanafi’s handwritten message was published in which he expressed condolences to the people and government of Iran’s “neighbor and brother nation” on the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei.

Ayatollah Khamenei was reportedly martyred on Saturday, 10th of Hoot (February 26), during the initial wave of U.S. and Israeli attacks on certain regions of Iran. To date, the Taliban administration has not released a separate official statement regarding this event; however, the Taliban’s Foreign Minister expressed condolences during a phone call with his Iranian counterpart.
