Former Military Officer Killed in Kabul; Motorcycle-Riding Assailants Escape

Local sources in Kabul report that a former military officer was targeted and killed by armed assailants yesterday in the 15th district of Kabul. The incident took place in the Istgah Danesh area, related to Khairkhana. According to sources, Mojib-ur-Rahman Hazrati, originally from Panjshir province, was attacked when two motorcycle-riding individuals opened fire on him. The attackers fled the scene after the shooting. So far, the Taliban administration has not commented on the incident, nor have they released any details regarding the arrest of possible perpetrators. This comes amid numerous reports in recent years of targeted attacks against former military personnel across various parts of the country. Despite the Taliban leadership announcing a “general amnesty” following their recapture of Afghanistan, human rights organizations and local sources have repeatedly reported arrests, disappearances, and killings of former military officers — raising serious concerns about the security and personal safety of these individuals.
