At Least 57 Students Killed in Attack on Girls’ School in Minab, Iran

Local authorities in Hormozgan province, Iran, have reported that at least 57 students were killed in an attack on the Shajareh Tayyebeh girls’ school in Minab county, with another 57 still trapped under the rubble.
Mohammad Radmehr, the governor of Minab, stated that the incident occurred around midday local time and that search and rescue operations are ongoing. He added that rescue teams are currently clearing debris and that the death toll may rise.
Iranian media have also reported that emergency personnel are using available equipment to extract those trapped beneath the rubble. No further details have been released regarding the perpetrator or the nature of the attack.
Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, announced that the site was bombed during daylight hours when it was filled with young students. Referring to the death of “dozens of innocent children,” he stated that this act will not go unanswered.
So far, no official information has been provided about possible perpetrators or the motive behind the attack, and investigations are ongoing.
