Former Afghan Foreign Minister condemns Pakistan’s attacks on civilian targets

Mohammad Hanif Atmar, former Afghan Foreign Minister, has condemned Pakistan’s recent attacks on civilian targets in Afghanistan, describing them as “cowardly and aggressive” and a clear violation of internationally accepted principles. He emphasized that such attacks will yield neither political achievements nor military benefits for Pakistan.

Atmar stated that despite internal disagreements, the people of Afghanistan will stand united in defense of their country, a fact that history has also proven. He believes that past experiences have shown that military pressure on Afghanistan has failed to weaken the collective will of its citizens.

He urged the Pakistani government and military to immediately end this “dangerous escalation.” According to Atmar, a fundamental solution lies in dialogue, effective action against terrorism, and the protection of rights and freedoms of people on both sides of the Durand Line.

The former foreign minister also called on the United Nations Security Council to act swiftly to secure a ceasefire, initiate negotiations, and establish an impartial monitoring and verification mechanism to ensure both parties uphold their international commitments.
