Over 3,400 Returned Students in Nangarhar to Join Private Schools for Free

The Department of Refugees and Repatriates has announced that 3,420 recently returned students in Nangarhar province will be enrolled for free in 384 private schools. Officials stated that this initiative will be implemented for one academic year based on an official agreement.

According to the released statement, the cost of implementing this program for one school year is estimated at around 1.5 million Afghanis. This budget is allocated to cover the educational expenses of students who have faced difficulties accessing education after returning to the country.

Nangarhar is among the provinces that have witnessed a significant influx of returning Afghan families in recent months. Providing educational opportunities for returned children is considered one of the main challenges in this province.

However, it remains unclear what long-term plans the Taliban administration has for the sustainable integration of these students into the country’s education system, and whether such support will continue after the conclusion of the academic year. Educational experts emphasize that continuous attention to the educational needs of returnees requires transparent planning and sustainable financial resources.
