Pakistan Defends Recent Attacks Inside Afghanistan as Counterterrorism Measures

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has defended the country’s recent attacks inside Afghan territory, stating that these operations were part of its counterterrorism efforts aimed at protecting Pakistan’s national interests.

Tahir Andarabi, spokesperson for the ministry, told a press conference that Islamabad would take “all necessary measures” to ensure its security and interests. He emphasized that Pakistan would not remain indifferent to threats.

Referring to the positions of the United Nations Security Council, Andarabi added that the council has repeatedly stressed the accountability of perpetrators, supporters, and facilitators of terrorist attacks in Pakistan. According to him, Pakistan’s recent actions inside Afghanistan have been carried out in light of these international demands.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also stated, “Pakistan will take all necessary steps to defend itself and its interests.”

Meanwhile, the Taliban administration has consistently described Pakistan’s airstrikes in Afghan areas as a clear violation of international law, asserting that no terrorist groups operate within Afghan territory. Tensions between the two sides have escalated multiple times in recent months, raising concerns over the security of residents in border regions.
