Construction of Two Irrigation Canals Begins in Logar with Over $382,000 Funding

The Taliban administration’s Ministry of Water and Energy has announced the commencement of construction on two irrigation canals in Logar province, with a budget of $382,586. The project covers the Wazirkala area in the center of Pul-e-Alam and the Khwrawar district.
According to the ministry, the total length of these canals will reach 7.2 kilometers, and the construction is expected to be completed within six months before being put into operation.
The financial cost of the project is funded by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. Officials have stated that this project will also provide employment opportunities for some local residents.
Based on the published information, upon completion, these canals will not only prevent water wastage but will also irrigate approximately 1,269 hectares of agricultural land in the area. Logar is considered one of the country’s agricultural provinces, and water resource management there is crucial for the livelihoods of farmers.
