Afghan Red Crescent Holds Meeting to Address Returnees’ Challenges

The Afghan Red Crescent Society has announced that a coordination meeting was held with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to address the challenges faced by returnees from neighboring countries. The discussion focused on how to provide humanitarian aid and expedite the process of meeting the urgent needs of these individuals.

According to a statement released by the organization, Sheikh Shahabuddin Delawar, the Director General of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, met with Hussam Faisal, the head of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Afghanistan, to exchange views on providing temporary shelter, health services, and food distribution for the returnees.

In recent months, the increasing return of Afghans from neighboring countries has placed added pressure on humanitarian resources in border areas and several provinces. Many returnees face shortages of shelter, basic health services, and livelihood resources.

While the Taliban administration has repeatedly expressed readiness to address the situation of returnees, the extensive needs of these families require that aid efforts be carried out with greater transparency, effective coordination with international organizations, and close monitoring of aid distribution to prevent problems and dissatisfaction among vulnerable residents.
