UN Chief Guterres Condemns Widespread and Open Human Rights Violations Worldwide

Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, has stated that in the current global context, human rights and international laws are increasingly being ignored, and the collective suffering of people is often used as a tool for political bargaining.

In a statement posted on the social media platform X, he said that various countries treat international laws as obstacles rather than frameworks for ensuring justice and global stability. According to him, this trend reflects the world’s departure from accepted legal commitments.

The UN Secretary-General emphasized that “a world that protects human rights is, in fact, protecting itself,” urging nations to end what he called a “widespread and brutal assault on human rights.” He stressed that these violations are not hidden but are occurring openly.

Guterres further added that, in many cases, the most influential powers on the global stage are at the forefront of this trend. Besides disregarding international laws, he noted that new technologies, especially artificial intelligence, are being used to restrict fundamental rights and deepen inequalities.

The UN chief once again underscored the necessity for countries to adhere to human rights principles and international obligations and called for coordinated action to prevent further erosion of these values.
