Afghanistan to Increase Industrial Electricity Supply to 12 Hours Daily Over Next Two Weeks

The Afghanistan Electricity Company has announced that over the next two weeks, electricity supply to the industrial sector will increase from 10 hours to 12 hours per day. According to company officials, the goal of this measure is to reduce power shortages in industrial areas and better meet the needs of factories.
The company added that efforts are underway to fully meet 100 percent of the industrial sector’s electricity demand within the next one and a half years. Officials state that several electricity generation and transmission projects are in progress across various regions of the country to increase energy supply capacity.
Meanwhile, the Industrialists Union has described electricity as the backbone of manufacturing activities and emphasized that without reliable access to energy, the growth of domestic production is impossible. Members of the union have called for serious and practical attention to electricity issues in industrial parks.
In recent years, power shortages have been one of the major challenges facing Afghan industrialists. Many factories have faced reduced production capacity due to fluctuations and limitations in electricity supply—a matter that economic activists urge the Taliban administration to address with clear and practical planning to ensure sustainable solutions.
