UN Special Rapporteur Richard Bennett Voices Concern Over Civilian Casualties in Pakistan Airstrikes

Richard Bennett, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights for Afghanistan, has expressed deep concern over the death and injury of children and other civilians resulting from recent Pakistani airstrikes. He has called on all parties involved to exercise full restraint.

Bennett emphasized that the protection of civilians must be a priority and that no military action should endanger the lives of civilian residents. According to him, all parties are obligated to comply with international laws and commitments.

The UN Special Rapporteur for human rights in Afghanistan specifically highlighted the importance of adherence to the principles of international humanitarian law and urged the prevention of such incidents from recurring. He has called on the involved parties to refrain from any actions that could lead to increased civilian casualties.
