Pakistani Border Guards Shoot at Afghan Migrants’ Vehicle, Killing Two Women

Pakistani media report that following gunfire by border guards at a vehicle carrying Afghan migrants near the Iranian border, two women were killed and three others injured. The incident occurred on Monday, February 22, in the Panjgur district.
According to the report from the newspaper “Dawn,” Pakistani border guards had signaled the vehicle to stop, but the driver ignored the warning, prompting the border forces to open fire. Sources added that all victims were Afghan migrants.
It is said that the passengers in this vehicle were attempting to travel to Europe via Iran, a route many migrants take due to economic hardships and internal restrictions.
Simultaneously, it has been reported that six armed individuals were killed in a separate clash with Pakistani border guards prior to this incident. However, it remains unclear whether there is any connection between that clash and the shooting at the migrants’ vehicle.
The Taliban administration has yet to respond to the deaths of these Afghan migrants. Their silence on incidents involving migrants raises further questions regarding their responsibility and the protection of Afghan citizens’ rights abroad.
