Iran Approves Plan for International Free Trade Zone with Afghanistan and China

The Head of Economic and Financial Affairs of South Khorasan, Iran, announced that Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, has approved a plan to establish an international free trade zone between Iran, Afghanistan, and China.

Morteza Zakarian told reporters that creating this joint commercial and industrial zone could increase export and import capacities among the three countries and pave the way for expanded economic cooperation.

According to him, the launch of such an area will not only develop trade exchanges but also create more job opportunities for residents of border regions and provide a foundation for technology transfer and strengthening economic infrastructure.

Zakarian, referring to the area, population, production capacities, and economic status of Iran, Afghanistan, and China, stated that these three countries possess the necessary capabilities to establish a strong international free trade zone. Typically, free trade zones are set up to reduce customs barriers and facilitate joint investment among countries.
