UN Confirms Death of 13 Civilians in Recent Pakistani Airstrikes on Afghanistan

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has confirmed that, based on preliminary data, at least 13 civilians, including women and children, have been killed and seven others injured as a result of recent Pakistani airstrikes on parts of Afghan territory.
In a statement, UNAMA called on both parties to end the hostilities promptly, prevent civilian casualties, and prioritize the protection of civilians. The organization emphasized that continued military tensions could further worsen the situation for residents of the border areas.
The声明 further stated that the conflicting parties are obligated to act in accordance with their commitments under international humanitarian law, respecting fundamental principles such as the distinction between military and civilian targets, proportionality in the use of force, and avoidance of harm to civilians.
Meanwhile, findings from Tolo News reveal that these attacks have resulted in the deaths of 17 Afghan citizens, with the bodies of 13 having been recovered from the area so far.
This incident occurs while the Taliban administration is responsible for the security and protection of the country’s residents. Nonetheless, the repeated cross-border attacks and rising civilian casualties have raised serious concerns about how border tensions are being managed and the safeguarding of civilian lives.
