Turkmenistan Invites US Companies to Join the TAPI Gas Pipeline Project

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, the national leader of Turkmenistan, has announced that international companies, including those from the United States, are welcome to participate in the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project. He stated that the project enjoys international support and holds significant potential to meet the growing energy needs of South Asia.
In an interview with Al Arabiya, Berdimuhamedow emphasized that the realization of the TAPI project depends on overcoming longstanding tensions among Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India, countries that have witnessed deadly clashes in recent months. According to him, regional cooperation is vital for advancing this initiative.
The Turkmen leader added that the pipeline could open new routes to access emerging markets in the Asia-Pacific region, the Near East, and the Middle East. He also described the TAPI project as politically and economically important, highlighting its strong appeal to investors.
Turkmenistan aims to complete the first segment of the pipeline, which extends to the city of Herat, by the end of 2026. However, no definite plans have yet been announced regarding the continuation of the project further south.
