Taliban Administration Cancels ID Card Confirmation Fee to Ease Access for Citizens

The National Statistics and Information Authority has announced that, under the directive of the Taliban administration’s leadership, the fee for verifying citizenship ID cards has been canceled. This decision aims to facilitate services for applicants across the country.
According to the authority’s bulletin, any unintentional errors made by employees on citizenship ID cards will also be corrected free of charge. Such corrections will be carried out in provinces upon the approval of the Civil Registration Manager and in districts with the approval of the relevant directors.
Additionally, for electronic ID cards and services provided at “Asaan Khedmat” centers, error corrections will be made nationwide without any fee after approval by the center managers.
The cancellation of the ID card confirmation fee comes amid widespread economic difficulties faced by many residents in recent years, during which administrative costs have been burdensome. It is expected that alongside this measure, the Taliban administration will also make the process of ID card distribution and correction more transparent and efficient to fundamentally reduce existing challenges in this sector.
