Interim Venezuelan President Warns of Far-Right Extremists Fueling Political Tensions

Delcy Rodríguez, the interim president of Venezuela, has issued a warning against what she described as efforts by far-right factions to create political tensions in the country, emphasizing the need to maintain stability and national unity.
She stated that Venezuela must follow a path of stability, national reconciliation, and social cohesion to prevent further crises. According to Rodríguez, preserving national unity, safeguarding territorial integrity, and securing the future of the younger generation are key strategies to overcome the current situation.
The interim president also accused far-right groups of spreading hatred, adding that “the fascists seek the destruction of Venezuela,” but she asserted that these factions are not accepted by the Venezuelan people.
In a related development, the United States arrested Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro in January. Following this event, Rodríguez assumed responsibility for running the country as interim president.
Although U.S. officials have stated they do not support the rise of far-right groups in Venezuela, some Caracas authorities believe Washington’s actions have effectively enabled the strengthening of extremist groups in the Venezuelan capital. Venezuela has faced extensive political and economic crises in recent years, and internal tensions continue.
