Mia Khil: Taliban Policies Have Isolated Afghanistan Politically and Diplomatically

Shah Mahmood Mia Khil, former acting Minister of National Defense during the republic era, responding to Pakistan’s airstrike on Afghan soil, stated that the Taliban’s governing policies have politically and diplomatically isolated the country, creating conditions for such incidents to occur. He emphasized that Afghanistan currently lacks broad international support and, as a result, cannot effectively defend its sovereignty against external attacks. According to him, the absence of constructive engagement with the global community has further weakened Afghanistan’s standing. Mia Khil also pointed to decades of war and insecurity, noting that the Afghan people have long been victims of terrorism; not only have they suffered, but in some cases, they have been unfairly accused of supporting terrorism. He added that the continuation of this situation increases pressure on the citizens. The former official warned that Afghanistan should not pay the price for the failed strategies and double standards of other countries. He stated that any military attack on Afghan territory is a violation of established international principles and could complicate regional security further. Mia Khil called on the international community to take practical steps to ensure the rights and sovereignty of the Afghan people and to prevent the spread of violence. These remarks come as the Taliban administration has yet to achieve the necessary international consensus and legitimacy to defend national interests on the global stage.
