Planting Campaign Begins in Pul-e Khumri with 3,000 Saplings

Officials in Pul-e Khumri, Baghlan province, have announced the launch of a campaign to plant nearly 3,000 fruit-bearing and non-fruit-bearing saplings to mark the arrival of spring in the city. According to them, these saplings will be planted in various parts of the city, including along public roads, recreational parks, and other public areas.

Maulvi Naqibullah Mohammadi, the mayor of Pul-e Khumri, stated at the opening ceremony that the tree planting process will cover the six districts of the city, aiming to increase green spaces and improve the environmental conditions. He emphasized that the responsibility for the care and maintenance of the saplings does not rest solely with the municipality.

The mayor further noted that residents must cooperate seriously in watering, maintaining, and protecting the newly planted saplings to ensure the campaign’s success and maintain a sustainable green urban environment.

Meanwhile, Wali Mohammad Khordmand, a representative of the Environmental Protection Department, highlighted the significance of tree planting during the ceremony. He said that planting trees plays a vital role in reducing air pollution, preventing certain diseases, replenishing groundwater, and mitigating flood risks.

Several Pul-e Khumri residents expressed their support for the campaign and pledged to cooperate with the municipality in caring for the planted saplings.
