Former Afghan Foreign Minister Condemns Pakistan’s Cross-Border Attacks

Mohammad Hanif Atmar, former Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, has strongly condemned recent attacks by the Pakistani army on several areas within Afghanistan, describing them as a blatant violation of international law. He has called on the United Nations to take immediate action to prevent what he terms ‘aggression.’
According to Atmar, these attacks have resulted in the deaths of dozens of civilians and the destruction of residents’ homes. He emphasized that targeting civilians has no legal or moral justification.
Based on released information, Pakistani forces targeted the home of a civilian resident in the Behsood district of Nangarhar province last night, resulting in the deaths of 18 people, including women and children. This incident has sparked widespread reactions.
Atmar has also urged the UN Security Council to take a clear and practical stance against these attacks. He added that Pakistan must be held accountable for the proxy and terrorist groups it has reportedly supported for years.
The former foreign minister further called on the Taliban administration to facilitate intra-Afghan talks as soon as possible to achieve a national agreement, which he sees as essential for the country’s survival and unity. As border attacks increase, critics say the Taliban government has so far failed to provide effective nationwide security against external threats.
