Former Iranian Official Abdulkarim Khorram Condemns Pakistan’s Ramadan Bombings in Afghanistan as ‘Degrading Act’

Abdulkarim Khorram, a former minister under the Islamic Republic, has strongly criticized Pakistan’s recent airstrikes on parts of Afghan territory, describing the actions as “full of humiliation and cruelty.” He stated that bombing areas in Afghanistan and causing civilian deaths during Ramadan is unjustifiable. Referring to earlier remarks by Khawaja Asif, Pakistan’s Defense Minister, Khorram recalled that Asif had once admitted that Pakistan was used like “toilet paper” by the United States in Afghanistan. Raising the question, “What guarantee is there that Pakistan will not be similarly used again?”, Khorram warned of repeating past mistakes. According to him, if Pakistan fails to learn from its historical experiences and again plays the role of a tool in the regional power struggles of major powers, the consequences could be dangerous for the country. Khorram emphasized that continuing such an approach threatens not only Afghanistan’s stability but also regional security. These statements come amid perceptions among some former Republican officials that certain countries, including the United States and Israel, may have assigned new missions in the region to Pakistan. These claims have so far not elicited any official response from the parties involved.
