Over 100 Afghan Nationals Detained in Pakistan Security Operation

Pakistani media, citing security officials, report that more than 100 Afghan nationals, described as “without residence documents,” were arrested during a widespread operation in Islamabad and four other districts. The operation also covered the cities of Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, and Chakwal.

According to officials, over two thousand security personnel participated in the operation, which saw increased searches in mosques, markets, and residential areas. Official sources stated that the aim of the action was to identify individuals without legal documentation and those deemed “suspicious.”

Pakistani authorities have warned that Afghans without proper documentation must regularize their residency papers as soon as possible, or they will face legal action. In recent years, Pakistan has adopted a stricter approach toward undocumented migrants.

Meanwhile, the Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees has repeatedly urged neighboring countries, especially Pakistan, to treat Afghan migrants with fairness and humanity. However, the rising arrests and deportations of migrants suggest that the Taliban administration’s diplomatic efforts to secure protection and rights for Afghan citizens abroad have yet to yield tangible results.
