Heightened Security Measures in New Delhi Following Bomb Threat Warning

Indian security officials have announced a significant increase in security measures across various parts of the capital after receiving intelligence about a potential explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort. These actions encompass key religious sites, historic landmarks, and busy public areas.

Press Trust of India, citing police sources, reported that the security alert is currently under investigation and assessment, but precautionary preventive measures have been implemented. According to the report, the primary focus is on securing tourist areas and public gatherings.

A security official stated that surveillance through video cameras has been intensified, and vehicle inspections are underway at sensitive points. Additional forces have been deployed to vulnerable areas, while trained dog units and rapid response teams remain on high alert at strategic locations.

India’s security services have urged residents of New Delhi to promptly report any suspicious objects or activities to the police.

In November last year, a vehicle explosion near the Red Fort resulted in the deaths of 13 people and injuries to more than 20 others. Indian authorities declared the incident a terrorist attack, and several individuals were arrested in connection with the case.
