Taliban Representatives and Uzbekistan Officials Meet in Moscow to Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

The Afghan Embassy under Taliban administration in Moscow announced that Mawlavi Gul Hassan Hasan, the Taliban’s representative in Russia, met with Baturjan Zakrovich Asadov, Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Russia, to discuss the expansion of bilateral relations. The meeting focused on economic cooperation, transit issues, and regional interactions between Kabul and Tashkent.
According to the released statement, both sides emphasized strengthening joint cooperation and developing relations across various sectors. Uzbekistan is recognized as one of the key Central Asian countries that has engaged with Afghanistan in transit and energy sectors in recent years.
The meeting also stressed that the situation in Afghanistan should be evaluated based on ‘realistic conditions and a positive outlook.’ This comes amid the fact that the Taliban administration has yet to be officially recognized by many countries since taking control of Afghanistan, with diplomatic interactions largely limited to working-level relations.
Experts believe that expanding economic and transit ties with regional countries could positively impact the livelihoods of the Afghan people. However, achieving sustainable cooperation requires political stability, transparency in administrative structures, and building trust at regional and international levels.
