Cash and Wheat Aid Distribution Begins for Returning Migrants in Three Afghan Provinces

The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation under the Taliban administration has announced the start of distributing cash and wheat aid to 3,600 families returning from Iran and Pakistan in the provinces of Parwan, Kapisa, and Uruzgan. According to the announcement, each family will receive 250 kilograms of wheat and 5,000 Afghanis in cash.
Officials stated that these aid packages aim to address the economic difficulties faced by families after returning to the country. They added that this initiative is carried out under the leadership of the Taliban administration and targets families who have recently returned.
Some returning migrants have welcomed these aid efforts, saying that this amount of assistance can cover some of their families’ basic needs; however, many returnees still face shortages of shelter, job opportunities, and essential services.
The widespread return of migrants from neighboring countries continues amid repeated calls from civil society organizations emphasizing the need for a structured and sustainable program for their reintegration into society. Critics say that although short-term aid is effective, without creating employment opportunities and access to basic services, it cannot resolve the fundamental problems faced by returning families.
