Vatican Rejects Joining Trump’s Peace Council on Gaza Conflict

The Vatican has announced that it will not join the peace council proposed by Donald Trump, the President of the United States, aimed at addressing the situation in the Gaza Strip. This stance comes as the Italian government has expressed support for the initiative, describing it as a step towards reducing tensions.
According to international media reports, the Vatican emphasized that resolving international crises should be pursued under the auspices of the United Nations and that the role of this global organization should not be marginalized. The religious institution called for maintaining multilateral frameworks in the management of global conflicts.
Meanwhile, several other European countries including France, Germany, and the United Kingdom have also declared their opposition to joining Trump’s peace council. These positions indicate a divergence of views among some European governments regarding how to manage the Gaza crisis.
Trump’s efforts to establish peace in the Gaza Strip come despite the signing of a ceasefire agreement between Tel Aviv and Hamas; reports indicate that attacks continue in the area, posing serious challenges to achieving lasting stability.
