UNHCR: Thousands of Afghans Are Being Returned from Pakistan Daily

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has reported that thousands of Afghan citizens are being expelled from Pakistan every day. Upon their return, they face shortages of shelter, healthcare services, and economic opportunities.

According to the report, a large portion of the returnees have been forced to leave Pakistan due to political pressure and difficult living conditions. Others have been expelled forcibly by Pakistani authorities.

The international organization has warned that the increasing trend of returns is placing additional strain on host communities within Afghanistan and escalating the need for urgent humanitarian assistance. The lack of basic facilities in many areas has posed serious challenges for the reintegration of the returnees.

The UNHCR emphasized that sustained cooperation and support from the international community are essential to address the situation of returnees and to prevent the emergence of wider humanitarian crises.
