Two-Million-Euro Project Launched to Aid Earthquake Victims in Eastern Afghanistan

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) have announced the launch of a major humanitarian project worth two million euros to support families affected by the August earthquake in eastern Afghanistan. This initiative is funded by France’s Food Security and Nutrition initiative. The primary goal of the program is to address the urgent needs of families impacted by last month’s earthquake in the provinces of Kunar and Nangarhar. According to the two organizations, 51,870 people in these provinces will benefit directly from the project, while nearly 190,000 others are expected to benefit indirectly from its services. UNICEF stated that the program’s activities will focus primarily on the districts of Nurgal and Chawkay in Kunar province and the district of Dara Noor in Nangarhar province. Key components of the project include treating child malnutrition, providing nutritional counseling to mothers, supplying safe drinking water, and enhancing youth skills.
